Many people depend on us: patients and their families, employees, medical partners, payers, regulatory agencies, and our communities. We value their trust and work hard to foster a culture of responsibility and civility to maintain that trust.
New employees are indoctrinated into this culture early, with Code of Conduct training at orientation. We also set expectations internally through business conduct standards, political contribution policies, and a charitable donations registry to keep our relationship with medical professionals transparent.
Medtronic Ireland is committed to ensuring environmental sustainability and continues to strive toward making substantial advances in this area. The Galway facility makes significant efforts to drive sustainability by using certification to IS393 Energy Management System standards to focus our efforts on reducing energy usage and using more environmentally friendly energy sources.
In 1997 the Environmental Protection Agency issued an ‘Integrated Pollution Control Licence’ to the Galway facility. This integrated licence governs all site activities including air and water, emissions, energy usage, noise and waste management and has laid the foundation of our Environmental Management system. In 2005, the Galway facility obtained independent certification to ISO14001 Environmental Management System Standard by the National Standards Authority of Ireland.
Health and Safety
In 2007 Medtronic in Galway was certified to OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System standards. By having a formal management system we can drive continuous improvement in our standards and practices by providing a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.
